BrickCalculator.co.uk is a free set of building material calculators made for UK projects. We help homeowners, DIYers and tradespeople calculate exactly what to order before visiting the merchant.
We started with one tool, our brick calculator. Visitors soon requested blocks, concrete, tiles and more, so the collection kept expanding. Today every calculator follows the same idea. Enter your measurements, get a clear answer and order the right amount the first time.

Built around UK sizes, standards and merchants
Many online calculators come from the US. They use imperial bricks, cubic yards and American products. Our tools start from UK practice instead.
- Metric first. Everything works in millimetres, metres and m², with feet available when you need them.
- UK material sizes. Bricks use the standard 215 × 102.5 × 65 mm size, and blocks use 440 × 215 mm.
- Real merchant quantities. Results come out in 20 kg and 25 kg bags, bulk bags, packs and boxes.
- Prices in pounds. Cost sections use UK retailer and trade prices, reviewed every few months.
- British Standards and Building Regulations. Our guidance follows British Standards such as BS 5385 for tiling and BS 8500 for concrete. The stair calculator checks Approved Document K limits.

- Checked prices. We compare UK merchant listings and published trade guides, then date every price table.
- Regular reviews. Each page shows when we last reviewed it. We last updated the main calculators in October 2026.
- Quick corrections. If you spot an error, tell us and we will check it and fix it promptly.
Our honest advice: treat every result as a planning estimate. Structural work such as foundations, retaining walls and extensions needs a qualified engineer or Building Control. Our disclaimer explains the limits in full.
